m-1 carbine

I know this is scant info, but can anyone give me an idea of what an M-1 carbine made in Saginaw in about 80% condition would be worth assuming all the numbers match? Were any of the reproductions made in Saginaw? Again sketchy info, but would like to know before I go to pains to track this down.....

    I bought a guy's collection of M1 carbines a few years back with the intent of keeping a couple and selling the rest. I ended up making a few bucks off them, but selling M1 carbines is a REAL pain in the keester. Carbines come from SO MANY different sources - US military arsenals, 3rd World Countries, DCM and CMP guns, etc - that finding an "original, as issued" carbine is next to impossible today. Carbine collectors are an EXTREMELY picky group, and I'm being kind. Prospective buyers will want to know every marking on every part in the gun. To sell at auction, you'll be answering emails with questions on the gun till you're blue in the face unless you sell it as a shooter and take a lower amount than you might possibly get. To me, it just wasn't worth it. I'll NEVER sell a carbine at auction again.

    The last time I went out to look at the carbine that grandpa carried during the war it turned out to be just another POS Universal! We need to know who produced the rifle along with as many details as you can provide. The more information you give us, the better we can gauge the price. Some carbines are very valuable while others are pretty common.

    The topic of the thread is "m-1 carbine". I would assume he knows the difference between an M1 Rifle and an M1 Carbine.
