$1.10/thousand? That sounds cheap to me.

When I asked for a quote, my company wanted $30/thousand. I figured it wouldn't take a lot of years before I spent as much on insurance as my guns were worth. So, I invested in a safe, & figure I have long since amortized the cost.

True, I still have to worry about fire & flood. Most folks lose their guns due to theft; between the safe, the alarm system, & the neighbors with MP5's, I am well covered.

    YMMV.

A buck a thousand is cheap. State Farm wanted $25 per thousand, that was with my refrigerator sized safes bolted to the slab and the in-home alarm system that I already have and a discount for already having my home owners insurance and motor velhice insurance through them. If you have (say) fifty grand worth of guns and can insure then for fifty bucks I'd be all over it!

$1.10 is the cheapest I have ever heard of. Being guns are one of the most frequent stolen items that is why you both need insurance and why premiums are what they are . No free lunch Buy a SAFE.

My guns are on my homeowners insurance.

While I'd love it if my gun collection was worth as much as my house . . .its not even a small fraction. Hell, not even close to the value of my car, and I drive a Ford!

I agree with the above. If you can insure your guns for $1.10 per $1000 of value per year, that's pretty darn cheap.

Giving the insurance company 25% overhead costs (I just made up that number), and looking at that cost ratio, the insurance company is saying they think there is only about a 1-in-700 chance per year that your entire gun collection will be lost or destroyed.

I have verified www.historicfirearms.com ( Eastern Insurance ) to be the best deal. They write with Chubb, and no serials req for most collections. I have used them for three years. They beat the heck out of everybody else.

I doubt the initial quote above about 1.10, I have shopped State Farm, Lofton (NRA) and the collectibles guy. Think about it, insure 20,000 of guns for $22 a year? Not happening. But the real number for Chubb is about $3.25 and no policy fee.

Inland Marine is not a company, it is a type of policy.

The best insurance is the first line of defense - a good safe!

You spend 1500 on a gun with no "safe" place to put it.
