Need value of Ft Knox safe
A friend has an immediate need to sell a 15 year old safe. Don't know the model, can't get photos, so no details as to actual model name. The safe is 31" wide x 60" high, with dial lock, & interior for many long guns. She needs to know a fair price to get for it, & Ft Knox website doesn't have prices.

In my experience, used safes have very little value, due to the difficulty and expense of moving them.
That said, there are a number of different models and sizes of Fort Knox safes, and all are priced according to size and options.0 -
What's the depth. Does it have a long gun side and a shelf side. Can pistols hang on the inside of the door. 0 -
There are several models with a large price differences. The model name should be on the inside of the door right above the top bolt. It will also give the date IE 3rd quarter 1995. 0 -
Depending on number of locks an thickness of skin will determine the value of the safe. Fort Knox makes good safes. A low end price would be $500 on up to $1000 for the size you are talking about. Nunn is correct about the moving of the safe being an issue. But that issue is what it is with all safes. 0 -

Sounds like one I purchased 15 yrs ago. Paid at the time about $1600 or more. Just purchased a different brand for my youngest son and gave close to $500. Nothing new goes for less than $600 these days...I would imagine a fair price to be between $500-600 for what you describe. Is it fire proofed? Black and Gold? Pics might help...

I would say that about $750.00-1000.00 should be in the right range. Those Ft.Knox safes are the best.

Usually, if one buys a new safe, delivery and setup are included in the price. That's why the cash & carry safes sold at gun shows are so cheap.
Once it is at its initial location, it is up to the owner to move it.
I have one safe, and got it super cheap because I was willing to move it myself.
My buddy up the road has four safes, all acquired used. Prices were anywhere from super cheap to "come and get it and it's yours." He has less than a grand in all four.0 -

sometime a fort knox dealer will pick up and deliever the safe pretty cheap...i had one moved here 150 miles away for 165. fort knox is the best imo. 0 -
I bought a Fort Knox back in 1987 from the ad in the back of the American Rifleman. Company out of Orem, UT. They still advertise there. The safe is 6'2" high, 4' wide and 4' deep. Burgandy with gold striping (FSU) and spin dial.
I THINK I paid $1,400.00 for it. I KNOW I paid Roadway $438.00 for shipping and setup.
I got to the point I had so many guns hidden around the house I could hardly leave for fear of a robbery. I have it in the back corner of the garage. It's amazing how many people come in there and never notice the monster.
If you have guns and don't have a safe, you're flirting with mental and physical disaster.0 -

Do you have it directly on the floor? Has humidity been an issue? Is it noticable when you open up the garage door?0
