22 hipower (5.6x52r) bullets

Anyone here that shoots this cartridge .227 is aware of the limited bullet design/weights available. I have developed a load that allows firing .224 bullet. If interested respond.

    OK...taking the bait....how is it you propose to make a 0.224" bullet fit in a 0.227" bore and shoot accurately?

    My books show the bullet dia. on 22 high power as .228 that is what I load in my 22 savage or 22 hipower. have a mold and resizer for it.The 5.6X57r is .224 used in europe dont shoot very well in mine.tks.hedge[:D]

    My reason for this post is to pass on experience and also see if various .22 hp rifles, such as 99's respond as the rifles I have shot, and also "I just love this stuff"!
    If you own a 22hp and shoot it occasionally then you can purchase loaded ammo such as Norma, but if you want to reload and get more from this cartridge than ever expected then read on.
    My specialty is European combination guns. Many are chambered for the .22HP, it became a favorite due to it being a rimmed cartridge with excellent velocity/bullet weight combination. I always felt it could do better with a more technically advanced bullet and a lighter hollow point or more easily mushrooming bullet for varmints, problem there just isn't much to choose from in .227/.228 bullets.
    Three physical bullet features will allow you to shoot a .224 bullet accurately thru a .227/.228 bore. Bullet material Zinc, Bullet length /long, bullet base obturate. Zinc will take a shallow rifling engraving and not strip. Zinc bullet is long due to lower density weight than lead. Long bullet length allows a greater surface area for engraving. Cupped bullet base will swell (much as a minie ball) to seal and fill the rifling.
