S&W L frame rear sight?

I have a 586 Smith that has the rear sight missing. I seet hey are measured by "thousandths?" at Midway. Mine measures 1/4" across and 29/16" inches long.(square notch rear) Any help as to the "size" I need. T.I.A. Walt

    Nambu, check out Brownells. They may be clearer and their tech service is very good.

    You need to know the heigth of the sight blade. All the rest of the sight are the same dimentions.

    There may (or may not) be one other thing to consider. Not certain on the L-frame, but on some of the N's a change was made a while back that involves a rounded end to forward body of the sight with the recess in the top strap not extending all the way to the forward end as in the past.

    Thanks for the info...Mine is an "old" 586,no dash series, with the square front and square back rear. Geez, there is so much I don't know about guns, and I have had, shot hundreds,,,[:I],,nambu
