Winchester 1885 Low Wall
I recently read on this site a response on a 1885 Winchester by Bert H and it was obvious he is very knowledgable on that model. I have been accumulating parts, some original, some new investment castings to build a hot rod on an empty winder frame. Frank de Hass's book Single Shot Rifles does not have the diagrams and dimensions I need to finish machine and assemble, is there a good reference book out there that specs out firing pins, flys, set triggers, barrel threads and machine work for the extractor etc?
Thanks, GregS

Can it be converted from rimfire to centerfire? 0 -
Hello Greg,
I have most of the information you are looking for stashed away somewhere in my pile of Model 1885 notes.0 -
Bert, any info, drawings, names of book's would be great.
Thank you, Greg0 -
John Campbell's two volume reference book set has some information in it, and until I find my set of blue prints. It would help to know what specific parts you are trying to make or machine. 0 -
Send me an email, I have a few extractors and firing pins etc. 0 -
Bert, I would like to run a .22 mag on this winder, the new cast breach block looks like it was cast for the mann-niedner firing pin, the new cast hammer has no notches, so I need some good
dimensions, how do I send some pix? These investment cast parts were made buy a pistolsmith about 25/30 years ago, cant rember his name, have some spare parts for this action and a raw dst triggerguard also.
It is so great to talk to somebody that knows about these fine old guns.
Thanks GregS
