Glock 22 or Ruger SR9?

Go with Glock. No external safety, but just treat it like you would a revolver. Don't pull the trigger unless you want to shoot..... As for the number of rounds fired, most police weapons are not fired very much at all. Many shoot to qualify and don't shoot again all year. Having said that, kinda hard to "wear" a Glock out.

Elkdropping is absolutely correct in his reply....Go with the Glock and you won't be sorry.

Which feels the best in your hand and is more naturally pointable? For me it is the Ruger, so I would take the Ruger...but each person is different.

    Brand new? Eh. . . .

Fire one round, and its not brand new anymore. Like driving a new car off the lot, you're paying for that "newness" in depreciated resale value of your brand new, but now used gun.

Its practically impossible to wear out a Glock, so unless the one you want is externally beat up, I wouldn't consider being used to be a negative here.

I'm not a fan of Glocks, but in this case, I think I'd still pick the Glock. Ruger SR9 gun simply hasn't been around long enough for me to trust it.

By the way, if you like the Beretta you mentioned, surplus Berettas can be had for around $350 (plus shipping and transfer, which should total somewhere around $50) making them entirely price-competitive with the other two you mentioned. These will be externally worn, but still plenty serviceable.

Also, there is something screwy about a store that charges the same for 9mm luger and 40SW.

Either the 40SW is too cheap, or the 9mm is too expensive, and my money is on the latter.

You might consider pricing ammunition elsewhere just to see what turns up. In most jurisdictions, you can have ammo legally shipped to your house, and if you buy it in bulk, at some savings to what is available locally.

Another vote for the Glock. 40sw is considered a major caliber in alot of competition type shoots.

I'd give the SR9 a few more years before I would consider one.
