Do you know what states or a web site that will tell me what states require a pistol permit and witch ones don't and witch state pistols are banned I think there are only two states were pistols are banned

  I'm looking at purchasing a Beretta 92FS, but I have one question before I buy. I'm active duty military, currently residing in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. However on paper, my legal residence is still upstate New York. Am I required to obtain a New York State pistol permit before I purchase this? Any assistance is appreciated.

  If you show your military ID + proof of local residency (utility bill, insurance, car registration, etc.), you can buy it in Virginia. However, you can not take it into NY State without a NY State permit. When I moved from Virginia to NY State, I had to ship my handguns to a NY State dealer until I got them registered on my NY State permit.
