Browning !A5 choke ?
Was this offered with a factory adjustable choke, like a poly choke? I haven't seen the gun yet so have no info other than the choke on the barrel.

Never say "never" I suppose, but no, never offered with a poly choke as a factory option. At least I've never seen a Belgian or Japanese A5 with a poly choke that anyone claimed was factory or had any evidence supporting such a claim. If it has a poly choke someone added it after it left the factory. 0 -
I have several older copies of the Shooter Bible and Gun Digest. None of them list chokes as options. In the 50's it was quite common to add various chokes. Both my Dad and I shot skeet in the 50's...and we had A5's installed with the Cutts Comp. By changing the tubes we used these same guns for upland shooting, ducks & geese. 0 -
Thanks, I didn't think Browning did that but wasn't sure. And what better place to find an answer than here. 0 -
I have my grandfathers A5 he bought from Sears in 1948, the same year I was born. And as far back as I can remember it had a Poly Choke. I always thought it came from the store that way. But I found some literature in a gun cleaning box he had that indicated it was installed after his purchase of the gun. Of the 11 shotguns I own, it still is and always will be my favorite bird gun.[:D] 0 -
browning definately offered the polychoke as a factory option. I have seen several new in box guns with POLYCHOKE printed on the label
also a pad could be original, but they had to be ordered from browning by the dealer. Browning did not make them that way without a special order.0
