7.62x39 reloading

I'm going to reload for the 7.62X39 (just bought a CZ 527 Carbine) but since I bought the rifle for plinking, using cheap ammo and NOT having to reload I'm trying to keep it a bit on the cheap. I'll do a bit of reloading just for fun.

I prefer neck sizing but am having trouble finding an economical neck sizing die or die set. The "turn out a FL dies 1/4 turn" approach still requires case lube and I want to avoid that, so I'm trying to assemble a neck sizing die in .310 diameter. Hornady sells a "short 30" neck sizer die, but the inside neck expander button goes to .308 only, they don't show a .310 button anywhere.

    Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum. My version of the Speer reloading manual does not show the 150 gr 303 bullet for the 7.62x39 but it does show the 125 gr 303 bullet. I use the 303 125 gr which is .311 in diameter in my SKS because it likes it the best. With the 125 gr the manual shows for IMR 4198 24 grains as starting with a max of 26 grains.

Yes, I also have the 125 gr. bullets, but I'm conserned that the 150's just might be to big for the caliber.

Wolf loads a 154 gr. I've loaded 150s. No problem.

I find a lot of loads on:

    http://www.handloads.org/

just click the top left of the page where it says load data database and find yer load. They have 150 gr for the 7.62x39. I use the IMR 3031 and at 24.4 grs. I found it very accurate with a lot of punching power for the sks (i have a norinco). No signs of over pressure and cycles through the receiver well. Hope this helps.
