value of marlin rifle

What is the value of a marlin limited edition (trail rider) 30-30 model 3080 made in mid to late 70's in good condition?

    I see no model 3080 in the blue book ..

    I have found no listing for a Marlin model 3080 although Marlin did have a "Trailrider", it was a nylon stock .22lr.

    I did find a reference to a Glenfield model 3080, which had a Trail Rider medallion on the stock and a gold trigger. It was supposed to be a special run for "OTASCO" but I don't know who or what that is nor if that is actually factual. I also found a reference to a Model 6080 which was in caliber .22LR and also referred to as a Trail Rider.

    I suspect what you have is a Glenfield, which is Marlin's "house" brand and usually listed at less than the corresponding model marked Marlin. Glenfield usually has a lesser quality wood, might have plastic/aluminum parts in place of steel, etc.. If, as I suspect, your Trailrider is a Glenfield equivelent of a Marlin 336 in caliber 30/30, I would estimate a value of between $165 and $225; depending on condition.

    I know of no collector interest in Glenfields.

    Gents,

    "OTASCO" is short for Oklahoma Tool And Supply COmpany. They are out of business, but they offered a few models of Marlin rifles to their customers, for a number of years. Typically, the OTASCO model number equals the Marlin/ Glenfield model number, plus the year that OTASCO offered their variant. OTASCO Model 3080 should equal Marlin/ Glenfield Model 30, for the year 1980. The medalion in the stock is a feature of the OTASCO rifles.
