E Allen & Co

Hello,
I'm a new member to this forum and I have enjoyed everything that I have read so far.
I have a small single shot pistol that I'm trying to find information on.
On the side of the barrel is "E Allen & Co Worcester Mass" under that it has "Allen's Pat. March 7.1865"

As I stated it is a single shot. The barrel twists side ways and ejects the shell. It looks to be 22 cal.

I'm looking for information and approx value.

Any information would be helpful.

    They were made after the American Civil War, circa mid 1860's to early 1870's, in small numbers. Actually yours with the barrel marked with the patent information, is probably a .32 rimfire, rather than a .22.

    Best to post quality photos for a valuation estimate. There is a "sticky" at the top of the first page of the forum with information on posting photos.

    Thanks for the information. I will try and get a photo loaded tomarrow. I think I have some 32 ammo, I'll check in the morning if it fits or not.

    unless yours has been bored out it should be 22 Rimfire. the more rare 32 cal had a full octagon barrel, and the frame is more rounded and it had the square butt grip style.
    In the pics your pistol shows that step in the frame just below the hammer and the birds head butt style grip. Should be a 22 RF.
