i built a LW frame back in 81 with a parts kit work ok they have been off market since the late 80's 0 -
I have an alloy Fed Ord "Ranger" frame, bought it stripped for $90.00 and dedicated it to a Mech Tech carbine build. I would say quality is mediocre. I literally grabbed left over parts from varous 1911s and they all dropped in fine - my Federal Ordnance has Para, Colt, Springfield, detonics, Essex, Brownells and GOK what else in it. But it all fit and if I'd wanted to refine the heck out I suppose it would have turned out OK.
The finish on the gun itself is spotty, it may be present on the anodized (alloy) guns and better on the steel, don't know.0 -
I had a steel frame one years ago. Did a little work on it and it ran fine. As far as I know the guy that bought it is still shooting it. I heard that the later ones, built when they were going out, wern't very good. 0
