Selling a reciever

How do I know if a gun is old enough to not be shipped through an FFL for sale? I am planning on parting out an old GEW 88 Commission rifle and need to know if the reciever is considered to be an antique or not.

  Here might be some serial number help. You need 1899 or lower.

  Last legitimate date (per ATF) for rifles to be classified 'Antique' is 31 Dec 1898.
  
  So, any firearm manufactured in 1898 or earlier qualifies..or viewed at a different angle, you need 1898 or earlier.
  
  I know, I just nit-picked. However, the OP will be doing a SerNo lookup, and needs to know just what class of firearm he has, so as to adjust the shipping procedure accordingly. Best, Joe
