Winchester Model 1873 Caliber Stamping

Can anyone tell me what year winchester started stamping the caliber on the left rear side of the octagon barrel? Thank you.

  It was several years after the turn of the century (1900) when Winchester began stamping the caliber on the left (10 o'clock) barrel flat... I do not know the exact year though.
