I was wondering if the M-5 will fit my 03-a3 springfield?

    I have a couple of bayonets I would like to identify.One is I believe German,it has a 10 inch blade,on the blade it has the number 3321 with the letter a underneath,on the other side it has the name P.WEYERSBERG.The grips are plastic and on the metal part of the grips it has a very small stamp A25 with I think an eagle over the top of it.The other one has a 20 inch 4 sided blade,the only markings are the letters R and S and the number 62693 on the handle.The handle is a white metal,and it has black painted scabbard.Any info would be more than helpfull.

    M16 but I don't know when Rock Island made them.

    Using the date block method, the M7 in your querie is between thirty-five to forty-five years old.

    That's about the earliest, and latest limit on the M7's span of production (perhaps a little variable either side), and the RIA will not exceed those parameters.

    Gut feeling: The RIA 'feels' like an early production M7. Can't back that up, however. Best, Joe

    Its for an M16, though it should fit on any gun that takes M16-type bayonets (eg the M4 and other AR-15 type clones, the Israeli Galil, etc).

    Impossible to give the exact date of manufacture based solely on the description as a "Rock Island" bayonet, but the M7s were largely made during the Vietnam era, I think all the way up to the late 70s or early 80s.

    So as Givette suggests, your knife is probably about 40 years old, maybe give or take 5 years.

    They're not exactly scarce. Literally millions of M7 bayonets were made and made their way into military surplus over the years.

    Rock Island is just the arsenal that the bayonets went through. There were seven companies tha made M7's from 1964-1989.
