the british bull dog 450cf

I have aquireda pistol iI would like to know more about, from my grandfather,here is the informationwebley's #2 450cf the british bull dog ser.# 64988. The gun is in very good shape, My grandfather carried this in his pocket for as long as I can remember( 40+ years). I also have the ammo! Can you give me any information on this gun?

    Made in Birmingham, England 1872-1914. Serial number 64988 would date from mid-1880s.

    For my notes, is finish nickel or blued? Wooden grips?

    it has BIRMINGHAM stamped on the r side of barrel, wooden grips, not nickelhas a crown , letter B, and number7, at the end if the ser.# stacked on top of each other. and a G with wings on top of it with W&S below. The wings are like the good year wings.

    Thanks for the details. The winged "G" is a winged bullet. The crown/B/7 is a government inspection mark. Serial number 64915 in our book has the same marking, and yours may also have a P with number police mark stamped on front of frame under the ejector rod.

    Value depends greatly upon condition, but the few sales I've observed within past year were in excess of $500.

    A word of caution: How are your cartridges marked? Most of these will chamber .455 and .45 Auto, but these are hotter rounds and should not be used in the black powder era .450s.

    these are not 45auto, my grandpa had them made for the gun some years ago. I only have 10 and thats more than i need. I probably will never shoot the wrist breaker.

    The ammo for this revolver is .450 Webley.
    I fired a box of old BP Remington blue label years back through an SAA Colt and they weren't wrist breakers. They only have 10 or so grains of black powder.
    I still keep a box in my collection.
