Mis stamped firearms don't necessarily draw the collector..per se. And they are not that uncommon.

Value? There's no market value scale on mis-stamped firearms, hence no way to tell. In coin collecting and firearms collecting, they are refered to as 'freaks'.

However, I don't think you will get any more for it than the complete commemorative would bring. Probably less. It's an orphan child in the collecting industry.

For a valuation on the Nevada centennial, others may chime in with what they are going for now. Or, check on the auction side for completed auctions of the same gun.

BTW, the dates are 1863, and 1864. Best, Joe

    I concur with Joe.

It's especially true for Colt commemoratives, which were usually contracted out to other companies for plating, engraving, etc. Some guns were actually manufactured by other companies for Colt, who just sold them.

Thank you Neal and Joe. Sounds like good advice. As for the typo ... it's hard to edit your own writing. I knew the correct dates, but there was some kind of electrical interference when it went from my brain to the keyboard. Probably one of the less known effects of global warming!
