stevens 520 action cracks

hello-have recently aquired a stevens 520,looks like a slick shooting shotgun,have just been informed that they had trouble with the action cracking where the bolt locks up in the top of reciever???? any input. also the guy told me that they had problems with the headspace because the barrel could not be adjusted to take up slack? any truth to these allocations???? thanks

  Stay away from heavy loads. This is an old shotgun.

  I'VE WORK ON SEVERAL OF THESE OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER HAD ONE THAT WAS CRACKED. THE USE THE BROWNING LOCKING SYSTEM. IF THEY WORK SHOOT THEM, IF THEY DON'T HANG THEM ON THE WALL.

  never seen one cracked, but have seen several that were so loose i would not shoot them.

  I refinish about five Model 520's a month for a company that makes counterfeit trench guns. Have not seen one cracked yet, and I'd be willing to bet I see more than the average Joe does.
