J W Winchester 1892 44-40 Anniversary

I saw a John Wayne Winchester High Grade anniversary edition 44-40 on Craigs list for $795.

Something seems fishy, the pictures show a gun with tons of gold ornamentation and a gold barrel, lever and hammer! It looks like the right stock and barrel length, has JW picture on stock etc.

Is this a tacky knockoff or a special edition, the price seems cheap as in to good to be true!

    That's a $3,000+ gun. Be VERY suspicious as it's probably either a scam or stolen.

    Yeah, I smell a rat,
    I emailed the guy and asked where it came from, paper work, ever been fired etc. - no response!

    It almost looks like a toy gun, it has enough gold on it to be a French whore!

    If it is real someone adorned it to the hilt as I understand they weren't offered like this. If anyone's interested it is on {elsewhere} NH.

    got an email back, this is a Franklin Mint replica!!! not a real gun-the dummy that listed it didn't know the difference!!![:0]

    It sounds more to me like he was hoping the dummy who handed over $795 in cash wouldn't know the difference!

    Since Craig's list doesn't allow firearms to be sold on their site, any listing must be suspect.

    probably a non-firing replica they look like the real thing if you don't know to much... had a friend call me years ago about a win-92 for $500 a commerative I thought he n\knew more about guns... He has a great learning experience hanging on his wall
