Winchester date of manufacture question
Hi, Experts. I'd like the approximate year of manufacture for what appears to be a pre-war Winchester model 94 carbine, Serial # 1122950. According to Burt H the Madis and other reference material on Winchesters is or may be inaccurate as to year of manufacture, so I'd like the best/latest input on the above Serial number.
Many thanks Jim

Jim,
According to Berts research, your model 94 left the polishing room in 1940.
Bert was kind enought to send me a short section of the research he has compiled.

Jim,
March 1937 is the correct DOM per the PRSRB. If you check the date on the barrel, it should be "37".
This should be a "transitional" Carbine. What type of butt plate does it have, what caliber is it, and what is the measured distance from the rear sight dovetail to the receiver ring? It should have the Type-6 upper tang stamp as well.0 -

I believe that you transposed a few digits in the serial number posted by Jim.0 -
Hi, Bert. I'd answer your questions but the seller has the carbine. I was waiting for year confirmation before attempting to buy it. If I can get it I'll send requested information. Many thanks Jim 0 -
Bert,
Your right, this gettin older ain't for sissies. I found a mag ring and mag tube for the 1897 vintage 1894 rifle I told you about. I'll send pictures in a few days. Has what I think is a factory Marbles tang sight.[:D]

I know what you mean... I will hit the half-century mark later this year, and I am most definitely not looking forward to being on the down-hill slide from there[:(].
I will look forward to the pictures.0 -
If you hurry Bert, you can catch me in a couple years. 0 -

I do not believe that I want in on that race, and I definitely am in no hurry to get to the bottom of the hill[:0]0
