grips...with/without finger grooves/there up to 4th... 0 -
1st generation: Pebbled grip
2nd generation: Checkered frontstrap
3rd generation: Fingergrooves and frame mounting rail under barrel.
4th generation (new for 2010): New stippled grip texture and slide serrations.
Note that there are "transitional" versions with fingergrooves, but no equipment rail. There have also been number of internal parts changes that didn't quite merit different "generations".
New 4th generation:

There were also magazine changes from generation to generation...different liners, and followers....each generation magazine has a different notch at the top...I am not sure the specifics I just know there were some improvements made. 0 -
it is only the first generation that the mags are not drop free. is this correct? while improvments have been made to the mags through the pistols generations are they all still interchangable? 0 -
Does anyone happen to know the production dates for the generations / or half generations? 0 -
There is only two generations of Glock mags. Non drop free and drop free. The non drop free have a round cut at the top rear and a three side liner. The drop free have a square cut and four side liner. All are inter changeable. 0
