Iver Johnson M1 carbine scope mount

I have a late 1970s Iver Johnson M1 carbine that I want to mount a scope to. I do not want to remove the rear sight. Is anyone aware of other options? Thanks!

    If I remember right that "factory" mount from I-J and Plainfield was made by S&K Manufacturing and called the "Instamount". Back in the day, this cost an extra nine bucks when you bought the rifle, or $35 if you wanted it complete with 1" rings and some sort of 4X scope. S&K is long gone, but I am sure that others have copied the old Instamount design.

    Thanks for the quick replay. If I found the 'right' information, that sight system actually does involve removing the rear site. I don't want to do that and am looking for other options. Thanks.

    Also back in the day, B-Square made a clamp-type mount for a long eye relief scope mounted forward of the receiver (designed for a USGI carbine, don't know if it fit an IJ). It required cutting a slot in the handguard.

    If you are willing to have four 8-40 screw holes drilled & tapped into the left side of the receiver, this would allow use of the Weaver Side Mount w/1" side mount rings(use base marked "M"), w/o removing the rear sight. This was SOP back in the day - the Universal-make carbines even came factory drilled for it.
