What is gun worth

I have what appears to be a S&W model 10. On the left side of the barrel it is marked 38 S&W special and under that, U.S. Service Ctg.
There are two stampings of what appears to be three triangles together on both sides of the top marking.
The serial number of the piece is 25413 and it is in about 80% condition. Someone has painted the grips white. Also looking to know where to find grips correct for weapon. They appear to be hard rubber.

    You will need to post photos; lots of S&W's appear to be Model 10's.

    Be sure your photos show all markings, including the bottom of the grip frame & the side of the receiver that can't be seen when the cylinder is closed.

    There are lots of guns that appear to be Smith & Wessons that aren't, too.

    That barrel marking, "U.S. Service Ctg.". Unfortunately appears to be similar to markings found on Spanish made revolvers, that the Trocaola, Aranzabal Company manufactured in the 20's.

    If it is one of the TAC revolvers? Material it's made of, and workmanship not likely to be up to S & W standards. I don't know if the S & W grips will fit? Take it to a competent gunsmith to check timing, lockup and test firing, if you intend to shoot it.

    The older Spanish made revolvers that were made before their proof laws came into affect in the late 20's, don't have especially good reputations.
