got a 12 ga. bps with a pretty bad pitted rust marks on reciver.wire wheeled the worst out.any coatings that would make it look better?duracoat,powder coat????

Duracoat or KG guncoat will cover and look better. BUT the pits will still show. 0 -
If you blast with aluminum oxide as a prep for Gun Coat or Teflon Moly . Since you have a rust problem I would recommend Teflon Moly for its corrosion resistance. earth Brown or OD Green look good on a waterfowling gun . Follow the directions on the can , except for the part where they say to bead blast . Glass beads only peen they don't cut and the finish WILL NOT STICK btdt I even called Brownells on that and the tried to tell me that bead blast is a generec term , but here in Vermont it means glass beads . Better yes. Like new, no. You have the worst treated. You might try a Cerakote finish & I have used this a few times. Durable and w/ a mat finish it will subdude the surface finish imperfections. If you need help, e-mail me. 0 -
Abrasive blast All of the rust out of the pitting first. Find an auto parts store that carries/can get paint supplies and get a can of Metal-2-Metal filler. It's heat resistant and can be used with the spray on bake on finishes. You can then fill the pits and level with with something like 220 or 320 sand paper. Then just coat with your choice and color of spray on finish. I like the Brownells Teflon Moly and thier brand baking lacquer. 0
