1980's Colt Commando snubnose
My local gun shop has a Commando Special, .38sp, 2" barrel, parkerized
for $370. Looks almost new. This is NOT the WW2 Colt Commando, but a 1980's version with a 2" barrel that has a ejector shroud.
So how does this gun rate? Good, bad, OK? Can it shoot +P's? Finally, is it priced correctly?

Sounds like a good deal if it is in "Like New" condition. I have a 3rd generation Detective Special in 2" and a 2nd generation Cobra in 2". Both were more expensive than that several years ago. I beleive the Commando was a steel frame gun so +Ps shoudn't be a problem. 0 -
I have a steel-framed Detective Special and Colt says NOT to fire +P ammo in it. The Commando Special is basically just a Detective Special with a matte finish.

If you go to the Colt Mfg website and download the manual (page 1), it says +ps are ok with steel frame guns and limited use is OK on the aluminum frame guns. Here is a link:

They must have revised the manual as mine says not to use it at all. However, it does say that excessive use can cause accelerated wear in the steel framed models. Thanks for the updated information.0
