TC Contender barrel

Can someone tell me the difference between a Contender barrel marked Super 14 and one that does not have this marking? My new barrels do
not have this Super marking. Will the super barrels fit the G2 Contender?

    As far as I know, all barrels from the Contender original, and the G2 models will interchange. The "Super 14" was a marketing thing to imply better performance. They als made a Super 16...both the 14, and 16 referring to barrel length in inches. There is no difference other than the markings.

    I thought the "Super" barrels were heavier. Or am I thinking of "Super Bull" barrels? My 7mm TCU is a 14" "Super Bull" and it's bigger diameter than my .222 Rem 10". As far as I know they did not use different sized stock to make barrels from unless they were supposed to be heavy barrels.

    If there was a difference in the barrel diameter how would they fit in the frames.....
    Some of the 10 inch barrels had a taper to them and the Supers did not...

    There is no difference in how it fits the frames. All the barrels are the same diameter at the breech end. There can most likely be a difference in which forearm will fit though. There can be a difference between the 10, 12, Super 14, and Super 16 in barrel taper diameter's.

    The only barrels that will not interchange with the standard Contender are the ones that are Armour Alloy II plated. TC's website might also have a warning on the interchangability of the AAII frames and barrels.

    It will take all of them EXCEPT the Armour Alloy II barrels. Call Thompson Center and ask them.
