When you see a gun for sale what is ment by no dash?

  Most often associated with S&W Models. For example and early Model 27 may be a no dash as opposed to a later like a 27-2.

  The only thing that I have seen that applied to is Smith and Wesson handguns. The first number denotes that the gun is the first version of that pistol. A dash one, two ,etc. indicates changes made to the original.
