Yugo SKS 59/66 not cycling
I have a Yugo SKS 59/66 that is not cycling properly. The rifle fires a round but the bolt only partially cycles back and it does not come back far enough to cycle the next round into the chamber. I have taken this gun completely apart and scrubbed everything down. i have made sure the grenade launcher switch is in the proper position and tried various types and makes of ammo as well to no avail. Its a nice gun I got at an awesome price so I don't want to get rid of it. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.[:(]

Gas selector switch is leaking. Very common problem. Search here and on google (sks not cycling gas valve - on Google), there are a lot of "fixes", some temporary, some permanent, some work better than others.

I had one that did this, I replaced the recoil spring with one from a 742 rem. worked like a champ. 0 -
Mine leaked where the gas tube connects and wouldn't cycle. I made an "O" ring with a small paper clip and it is still working fine. As has already been mentioned there are several possible causes and repairs. I once bought a Chinese SKS that wouldn't cycle; Its gas tube was still filled with grease and just needed cleaning. 0 -
Common problem, usually due to corrosion of the gas system. Lots of surplus Yugo SKS rifles actually saw use during the Balkans war, and the standard Yugo ammo was corrosive.

Edit: One more thing, and its almost too silly to mention, but I've seen it happen. If the main/recoil spring is installed backwards, the gun won't cycle properly. Worth a quick check.0 -
This needs to be said...
If you are using an aftermarket "detachable" magazine, ditch it and use the standard fixed 10rd magazine.0
