T/C encore question
I have less than 100 rounds through my Pro-Hunter 7mm-08 and I can grab my barrel and frame and move them left and right. All my old contenders were always tight and I could drive tacks with them. Not so with this gun. I called the factory service dept. and they are sending me an over sized pin. I have heard of after market over sized pins, but not factory supplied. Am I missing something here, has the factory screwed up??????
I have had over 10 different T/c barrels in the g-2 and older frames and have a lot of respect for the product. This is my first encore and I like it's balance, feel and looks but I'm a little concerned about workmanship at this stage. Hopefully the overer sized pin will solve my problem. I see there are adjustable hinge pins on the market also.

I have 4 frames (2 Contender, 2 Encore) for handgun & rifle use and about 30 barrels. A few of the barrels have a touch of wiggle and that doesn't seem to affect accuracy. In fact, I bought a Bergara rifle barrel (Natchez carries them for $166.00) in 7-08 for my Encore and it's got a fair amount relative to others, but it shoots very well.
I bought an oversized hinge pin once, couldn't even get it into the frame. A heavy duty locking bolt spring might help snug things up, but my guess is the looseness isn't responsible for the accuracy problem.
You might want to visit Mike Bellm's Encore site, he has a fair amount of info & fixes posted.0 -
I would go to Mike Bellm's site. Order 1x and 2x pins and a heavy bolt locking spring. You should get both pins cause the 1x might still have movement so you would go to the 2x. The pins will fix the movement adn the locking spring will make the barrel lock better. This is what I did to all of mine. I have 22-250, 300 win mag, .50 cal blackpowder pistol and rifle. 0
