ah, Remington...as far as I know they have always made thier oun barrels 0 -
Yes, as above,,,,fine shooting factory rifles as I am sure you know...nambu 0 -
I agree that Remington makes it's own barrels. There is a two letter date code on the side of the barrel near the receiver that can tell you the month and year made. The 541S is a fine little rifle. However my 580 and 581 will each shoot just as well even though they are awfully plain looking by comparison.

I think Remington makes all its barrels except for some of the custom stuff...I hear they buy those. 0 -
