sks all matching

I recently purchased a very nice sks (i believe to be chinese) and it says made in china but someone has stamped a California name over it. All the nubers burned into the stock match the numbers on the action and the built in clip. I only paid $100 for the rifle, was this a good buy? Is it worth anything? the number burned on the stock is 4152, can this tell me anything?

    Assuming its functional, as they say, you "stole" it. [;)]

    10 years ago, you could buy all the SKS rifles you liked for $100, but in today's climate used ones in good shape are running around $200-250, depending on condition and where you are located.

    I have no idea what the markings on your rifle or stock mean. If you post some high quality pictures of them that might help. Instructions on how to do that can be found in the "sticky" at the top of the "Ask the Experts" page.

    It's probably Chinese, I believe they made more of them than anyone else. And yeah you stole it in todays market. Typically they currently sell around 300-400 bucks without matching numbers, and in so so condition.

    All matching numbers doesn't mean much for a Chinese SKS; they were manufactured specifically for export to the US commercial market.

    OTH, it is important for Russian, Yugoslavian, & Albanian SKS's, as these rifles were made for their countries' military use, & many were previously used.

    Sounds like you bought yourself a Chinese SKS that was imported by an importer located in CA, which is why it has been stamped by them.
    An All matching chinese SKS will bring triple the money you gave for it.
