it makes a difference what dash model yours is--like 60-2 60-3 etc. Just go down the list in the link and it will tell you. If you are buying from a private party then none of that stuff matters-this is just what you buy from a dealer.0 -
Short answer - no. If you have one and are moving here, no problem. Live here, already got it, no problem. Want to sell it to another CA resident, no problem. But .....
But the idiots that run the state have decided handgun models must passed a "drop test" to come into the state through FFLs. All handgun makers must submit the model, pay a fee & get the gun OK'd. And by model I mean specific model not just a Model 27 or a Model 66. It has to be the current Model 27 & current Model 66 - and different brrel lengths mean different guns must be OK'd.
For example - my Springfield EMP in 9mm is CA OK. The same gun in 40 cal is not CA OK. The Dan Wesson PM 7 is OK, the Dan Wesson Valor is not.
Since the earlier Smiths and Colts predate the list, they weren't OK'd. The Hi Points were OK'd though - that makes sense, right?0 -
