German Makarov markings
I was looking at one of my 9 X 18 makarov's and noticed some markings that I am not sure about and was hoping some of the more learned here would educate me a small amount. Under the slide release lever there is what looks like the letters LSA, which have been xxx'ed out. Can anybody inform/educate on what this means? Does it add or subtract to the guns desirability? I will probably just keep shooting it, no matter what it signifies. Thanks for your help.

When you say under do you mean below the bottom of the lever and visable on the frame, or completely beneath the lever itself, where nothing could be seen unless the lever is physically removed? 0 -

There is a book written about East German handguns. "Handguns of the Armed Organizations of the Soviet Occupation Zone and German Democratic Republic" It's a paperback by a guy named Dieter H. Marschall. It not a real expensive book. If you have a lot of interest in their handguns, you might consider getting it. 0 -
It stands for Landespolizei Sachsen-Anhalt or
"Police force of Saxonia-Anhalt"

Take it out and shoot it. I have a East German Mak and shoot it all the time. Just clean it like the ammo is corrosive. 0 -

Ripley16, Your Mak looks very nice. Are those Pearce grips? Mine just has the Ernst Thalmann markings on the right side of the slide. Also the importer markings the say RIKO Products, Buffalo, NY. It is a 1961 model. Thanks. 0
