corbon 400??

if i swap barrels in my .40 fusion CBOB and commander .45 can i shoot corbon 400 in the commander? the .45 mag should work. think it will feed normally?

    The 400 CorBon round is based on a necked down 45ACP.
    Therefore, the 400 CorBon requires a barrel chamber of dimensions that match the 45ACP from the neck to the base.

    I don't think that your 40 Fusion has similar dimensions as the 45ACP in the area of the base...

    While your 40 Fusion Barrel may fit the commander 45 AND the mag works... it does not necessarily mean that the ammo will work.

    To confirm any of this... take a standard 400 CorBon and hand fit it to the removed barrel... If it seats properly AND with the seating will fit in the slide against the breach face properly AND lock up with the slide AND allow the extractor to pull the emptied shell from the chamber and eject... Then you might be onto a good fit...

    Typically 40 Cal ammo don't fit in the same chambering as a 45ACP... even though a 400 CorBon has most likely the same bullet size, (.401)
    as the 40 cal ammo you want to use...

    If you're looking for a barrel to use in your commander, check out EK Fire Dragon HERE They may be out of stock... check with them.
    They drop in with a minimum of fitting and are a great round in a 45ACP framed pistol...
    The factory ammo is pricey, but you can reload standard 45ACP cases after reforming the neck (EASY to do) and get near 10mm ballistics in the 45ACP...

    Let me know how you do... I'm working on reloading data and hope to be able offer up some intelligent info late this summer...

    looks like it would be better to get the dedicated 400 barrel. i didn't realize the round was a necked down 45 case. the barrel cost isn't bad at all.
    I really don't have any issues with the 45 acp, but i'm of the opinion that more is better! [;)]
    i had almost given up on this swap. didn't seem like anyone knew anything about doing it.
    when you get the load data squared away, i'd appreciate you letting me know.

    You will need a .400 Corbon barrel, possibly another or different recoil spring. I shoot the .400 Corbon out of a Ruger P90, I found it easier to set up a second complete slide with the .400 and change the entire slide.
    Mags work for either round, have no problems with any mags I use.
    The .400 Corbon is a much more accurate round in my platform and I enjoy shooting it. It is harder to chase the brass, it's not as consistent as the .45 and I reload so I spend time looking for my brass.
    I think you will like the round, I have found recoil to be easier than the .45 yet power and accuracy is enhanced.
