Well, I did not hear from anyone, but did find a web site which gave the answers (http://masterton.us/Spanmauhome). The 1893 Spanish Mauser has a flip up (see through) leaf sight. The 1916 has 2 types of sights: lange vizier sight or tangent leaf sight which are not flip up type sights. It appears that a majority of 1893 Spanish Mausers listed on Gunbrokers are actually 1916 rifles. If anyone has other information, I would like to hear from you.

Got a few auction numbers? As a learning experience, I'd like to see the differences. Especially the 1916 Mausers listed as 1893 Mausers. Thanks, Joe

Sure, here are some: 153761162, 153201673, and 153811175. The only listing for a 1893 model that has the correct rear sight is 153960307 which is sporterized. Ron
