Remington Model 11

I have a Rem. M11 that has a 28" cyl. bore. Is this factory?
It is a 28" solid rib barrel, and is marked CYL underneath
the barrel, right in front of the extension.

    I have a Model 11 Remington marked with "Property U.S.Navy"
    that needs a barrel with the CUTTS Compensator. Is their a difference between the Model 11 and the "SPORTSMAN" barrels?
    Thanx for help..... I know squat about shotguns and want to acquire a "correct" barrel with Cutts for this WWII veteran

    Have you taken the buttplate off and taken the nut off the big bolt inside the buttstock yet? I assume that this must be done before you can do anything else.

    I took the butt plate off, but didn't see a bolt??

    rem model 11 does not have a through bolt to hold rear stock on. when tang screw is removed you should be able to pull the stock off to the rear. sometimes a little tight. if so tap with rubber mallet. do not hit hard. i had one that was very difficult because the recoil spring tube was broken inside the wood.good luck.

    To remove the stock on the Remington Model 11-First remove the upper screw. Then remove the little locking screw and then then the screw.
    This may perhaps be a challenge as they are often frozen because of rust and frozen oil. Pls grind your screwdrivers for a perfect fit.
    I just did this on a Skeet gun. You will perhaps need to dribble
    some Kroil down the screws first. Not the best for a an excellent
    stock-but perhaps your only choice. Also-if stubborn-heat the driver
    prior to attempted removal of the screws. There is no through bolt.
    Do not hit or try to *wiggle* the stock off. Just let the receiver
    and stock *sit* for a while.

    There are only two screws that need to be removed. The small lock screw that retains the tang screw and the tang screw. No through bolts, action spring tube caps, just the two screws.

    Chances are the wood has absorbed oil or moisture and has swollen some.

    Get a small scrap of Thick leather and a small soft face malet. One of those with the hard plastic face on one end and soft rubber face on the other.
    Have someone hold the receiver firmly on top of a table in the upright possition, place the leather against the front of the comb of the stock and carefully tap against the leather with the Soft face of the malet. A little gentle persuation should get it free of the threaded lug on the bottom of the upper tang. Just don't tap against the wood. The malet could mar the finish whereas the leather will have less tendency to do so.

    What ever you do Don't wiggle or twist it, you could easily break the action spring tube.
