Gew 98 Berlin 1917

My father had this gun in his collection. I've been searching the internet doing some research on it. I never knew what caliber it was or anything. I'm curious to the value of it. I can post pics of it if helpful. It appears to be in good condition. Any information would be greatly appricated.
