Did winchester ever make checkered stocks on the pre 64 model 94's?
If they did, do you know when the first year they were produced?

    You're definitely asking the right man, and I'm sure Bert will be along soon.
    In the meantime, I'll just say that, to my knowledge Winchester didn't make a checkered 94 pre-64, BUT, I believe the model 64 was basically the same rifle but with checkered stock and different finger lever to acomodate the pistol grip configuration.

    Winchester checkered and carved numerous M94s pre 64. They did many in the Custom Shop alone.

    Winchester offered checkered stocks on the Model 1894/94 from day one of production (October of 1894). Checkered/carved stocks were first offered as a special order option on the Model 1873, and it was an available special order option on nearly all Winchester Models ever made.
