410 Derringer - Safe Ammo?

I have a Bond Arms Snake Slayer Derringer.
Love this gun!
According to the mfg. you can shoot 3" shells (with buchshot if you can find it) or 45 Long Colt rounds.
The last inch of the barrels are rifled.

My question is:

I have 2 boxes of Winchester 410ga. 2 1/2" shells with Rifled Slugs.

Are these safe to use in the derringer?

    you can fire any 2 1/2" in any 3" chamber..i have the 2.5 myself and am going to order the 3" barrels

    I never completely understood the rifled slug thing [;)]

    The idea of having something with rifling on it used in a barrel that has rifling seemed like it could be a problem to me....but thanks for the info!

    I want to try one of these out, but I didn't want to mess up the gun

    As long as their standard factory loads they would be safe. All modern commercial ammo is loaded to standard pressure specs. Legal liability being such a major factor now in the gun business with all the blood sucking lawyers around, you can bet your a** if the manufacturer says 3" shells are OK, slugs would be to.

    .410 slugs only weigh between 80 & 90 grains, you would be better off with the .410 Buckshot loads, IMHO.

    agreed, but the buckshot is hard to find, and the guys selling this stuff are pushing some Russian made crap that I have read lots of bad stuff about.

    I didn't even know 410 came in buckshot...shiite, how many pellets would fit in one? 3?

    Slugs should be safe.

    That said, I think typical .45LC rounds are going to outperform the typical .410 slugs (at less cost), so if you can use those, there probably isn't really a good reason to use slugs.

    My main attraction to this gun is for concealed carry in places where no one can get a concealed carry permit unless they are related to the mayor or a celebritard from Hollyweird [:p]

    The other thing I like is the fact that you can unload a round of number 6 or 4 shot that will definitely do what you need done at close range, and you don't have to worry about someone doing ballistics on a slug pulled from the perpetraitor [:D]

    All in all, I like this weapon, all stainless steel, Rosewood grips, and way more than anyone should ever need in a typical urban confrontation. The buckshot would be my choice...I just have to find some that is made in the USA.[;)]

    CTD has buckshot for 410 by Winchester. 5 rds per box, 3 pellets of 000 buck per shot.

    Regarding CTD:

    Yeah...that Golden Bear stuff from Russia or the Ukraine is what I read bad things about.

    I'll hold out for USA made stuff even if I have to pay more

    Go to cheaperthandirt and select shotgun ammunition and 410 bore.

    Winch. also has a new .410 load for self defense revolvers that has 3 "copper discs" followed by 9 BB sized copper jacketed pellets. Just saw it advertived in Shooting Industry Mag today.
