Whats it worth, and should I let it go or not?

I have a Colt 6530 (production 1993 verified throught Colt). All original. It is in 90-100% condition. I have been offered $550-1200 for this piece and I am wondering if I should sell it at all. Realistically what is this piece worth, I have been considering building or buying a AR pistol, or the FN Herstal 5.7 pistol. Any thought or opinions on either of these would be much appreciated.

    Are you sure of that date of production? I thought they had quit putting flash hiders and bayonet lugs on their AR's prior to that date?

    If it's been fixed up by adding the two above evil features after leaving the factory? No harm in getting rid of it as it's not factory original.

    On the other hand if it is a righteous preban Colt with all the evil features from the factory, no way would I get rid of it. You'll never get your hands on another one.

    So I took my piece down to the local gunsmith today, we called colt and got the rundown of what it left the factory with. And then looked over my piece and he confirmed that this weapon is all original, and in very fine condition might I ad. I have the box, manual, and warranty card, and some certificate and one mag. that it came with. It is blue label 6530. What realistically is this gun worth? Not necessarily wanting to sell but would definitely like to know what it should be insured at.

    There's a big difference between 90-100% condition, and $550-$1200 is quite a bit of a spread. What it's worth is only what some one is willing to pay. If this was around a year or so ago you may have gotten $2000 for it. Now that the frenzi has some what subsided and if the gun is actually 100% you should not have any trouble getting $1200 or a little more. At 90% closer to a $1000. Prices have come down quite a bit and you can get many AR's for under $900.

    Should you let it go only you can answer that. In todays market its hard to say with all the anti black gun agendas that will come into play in years to come it's anybodys guess as to what to do. When I bought my first AR a Colt Sporter SP1 I paid $238 for it. Had I known what the future would have been I would have bought a crate of them.

    The only way we can tell you what percentage condition it is in, is by pictures. Lots of em'. The only way you will know the true value of what you have is by listing it on the auction side with lots of pictures that are clear. Start it at 0.01 with no reserve, and let it run for 10 days. You will find out what it is worth.

    Thanks for the info guys. Is there a way to list but not have to commit to sell? I understand this is kind of a dumb question or scenario but I just don't know, I've looked at a lot of colt ar's and all of what I've seen in Indy area are not as nice as what I am holding. Thank you for the info....

    If it were mine I would keep it. For $1200 it would hard to replace.
    The pre-ban lightweight sporters are the one AR most guys are looking for now. I wouldn't take $2000 for mine.

    A pre-ban rifle like that might be worth more in a state like New York that still has an AW ban.

    If you were to list it I would have NY and preban in the title.
