Best O/U under $2000?
Ok. Lets here all of your opinions. I want a nice o/u but not the really nice high price guns. It will be a shooter not a collector. Something light would be nice. I don't want an 8 lb gun. I prefer all blue but there are some nice two tones out there. I've also seen alot of ugly two tones.
I like the Beretta but I know it is more like $2500 unless I find a good deal on a used one. I've heard CZ is great for the money.
Any other suggestions?

I own four that are pretty nice and I bought all for $1,900 total. Of course that was used from pawn shops and about 2 years ago. Regardless, there are some bargains to be had in used O/U's.
Browning Citori 425 Sporting Clays, 98% with luggage case, $950
BSA 500 by SKB, 30 inch Full & Full, 95% $300
Savage 330, made in Finland by Valmet 95% $350
Traditions Hunter II, like new, by Fausti Stephano in Italy,$300
The Browning and the Savage 330 are my favorites and the Savage is the best gun I've ever bought for the amount of money spent. I recently saw a nice used Japanese made Charles Daley 20 GA for sale for about $350 and it kept sayng, "I'm really a Browning, buy me!". Another vote for Ithica SKB, good shotgun for the money. I sold 2 Browning Citoris and kept the SKB. Lots of them on the auction side.

On GB there is someone who has several NIB Remington 300 Ideals. These are very good guns that Remington discontinued after not even a year into production. I have one in 26" barrels and love it. Less than 500 were made in 26". All the 300 Ideals were 12ga with tubes. They were made in 26, 28 and 30". Furthermore...someday they may be worth additional money because of how few were made. I am not aware of many Remington's that had such a LOW production number. Also they were all made in the Remington Custom shop in NY. 0 -

Wow...I can't believe that no one has mentioned the Brownings sister, the Winchester Select Energy. I have the SE Trap with the adjustable comb and 30 inch barrels. It shoots like a 22. I love it. There are several Select energy's on the auction side for well under 2K, NIB. For the most part, they are made by FN in Belgium...right next to the Browning Citori's.
The CZ's are great too, and offer a lot of extra's for a very good price. There is not much out there for feed back on them for reliability, longevity or service though.

I have shot about everything out there hunting. Hands down you will give up a huge advantage US gunmakers do not put in there shotguns. Unless they custom up ( which get out your pocketbook) a cast on or cast off stock, your loosing a huge advantange taking birds. My top gun and hands down best shotgun is an HK Fabarms. I did a search on GB and only found 1..a 20 gauge 24" upland. I shoot a 12 gauge max lion paradox with 24 " barrels. Has rifling to spin the wad in the lower last 6" of the barrel. Throws a pattern of 48 x 48 ( half a sheet of plywood ) at 25 yd. I have taken quail, doves at great distances also with it. Get ahold of an hk fabarms dealer and just shoulder one. You will be surprised. Straight stocked shotguns are out of date. HK makes a variety of O/U from upland , turkey or sporting clays. They are the magoo. Take a look at the link and read some of the archives about bird hunting especially the article some pictures are worth a 1k words.

What gauge? 410,28, and 20 gauge will be the lightest and most expensive. 12 gauge will be the heaviest and cheapest. That being said, a Browning or Beretta is the only way to go in my opinion. If you want a 12 gauge, keep your eye open for a nice old Belgium Browning Superposed. For whatever reason the 12 gauges can still be bought rather reasonably. Otherwise, a nice Citori or an older Beretta BL-4 can be found reasonably also.
