My Dad Just passed on his 1st shotgun down to me. It is not in the best shap, but looks like I should be able to restore. Need to now more about the gun and where I might be able to find parts.
I have learned so far that the company was around from 1888 to 1935, were sold in hardware stores, and may not be worth much. Just curious does anyone know what this is worth?
It is a single shot breech load 16ga The markings read:

Your gun is what is commonly referred to as a "Trade Brand Name" shotgun. That is a shotgun made by a major maker for and sold by a wholesaler or retailer who chose the name to go on the gun. Guns with the name VICTOR SPECIAL were made by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich,CT (1892 to 1932) as marked and were sold by the Hibbard Spencer Bartlett Company of Chicago. IL a wholesale sporting goods dealer. Value of these old guns depend on their condition, the amount of original finish remaining on the metal and wood as well as the mechanical condition. Values can range for a high of about $200 for a double barrel or $175 for a single barrel for an excellent condition example down to $10 for either for a rusty rotten incomplete piece of junk fit only for a tomato stake. The maker has been out of business for over seventy five years and parts are few and far between. You have already been given a couple of sources for parts. You might check the various gun auction sites for parts as well as E-Bay. 0
