    Colt Mustang .380's (all versions),continue to appreciate with good reason:

    "often imitated, never duplicated"...

    Besides the large number of auctions for used guns, many in great condition, it's amazing how many you still find which are unfired and even include the original boxes and paperwork, even though they were last made in the mid '90's.

    Rarest of these seem to be the special edition of the White Stallions (only 250 ever made) and the Black Stallions (also only 250 made). I've seen a couple of auctions recently for these gems, one in particular for a pair of each, with matching serial numbers (White Stallion was WS057 and Black Stallion was BS057). These were unfired and as new, complete with everything from the Colt Custom Shop, down to the original shippping boxes...

    can anyone shed any light on whereabouts of similar sets of these collectibles?

    The best place to look is on the auction side. If not theere now, check again later. My experience has taught me that eventually it will show up.

    I have a pretty fair amount of experience with the Colt Mustang 380. Most of it was bad ! The Colt Government 380 was a much better gun.

    Just my personal opinion (not worth much) I think it was the worst firearm ever marketed by Colt.

    But, if you are just collecting them and not shooting them, no problem.

    I own a Colt Mustang .380, and have carried it for deep concealment for about 20 years. I have a spare Colt magazine for it also. It has never malfunctioned in practice. It is reasonably accurate. It remains among the smallest and most concealable handguns I have come across, that is available in a hopefully potent-enough caliber if it should ever be needed for serious social purposes. I believe these things account for the high resale values and desirability currently associated with used ones. I know mine is not for sale!
