I.D. this wood?
you guys have been great with advice and answers....thanks! I found this among my things, no idea where it came from or what its to....any ideas? guessing a 22?

Looks like a foreend for J.C. Higgins Model 31.
The .22 auto with the retractable sling in the butt.0 -
Also the J. C. Higgins Model 29 22 auto.

That appears to be from a High Standard rifle, also sold under the Sears "J.C. Higgins" brand (models 29, 30, 36). The actual High Standard model escapes me, at the moment. "Sport King" could be it. The retractable sling also sounds correct, for that model.
