380 vs 9mm
I have noticed a shortage in shells in both calibers, but also a big difference in price. The 380 shells seem a lot more expensive than 9mm so i am wondering if the extra i spend for a 9mm handgun wouldn't be better in the long run?

Check out a FEG in 9x18mm. Gun and ammo is cheap and available 0 -
spend the extra money on the 9 mm. 380 is way too expensive to shoot for fun and the knockdown power is less. I carry a ruger lcp in 380 and while it is a joy to carry because of its size, I wonder about if the scare factor is going to be enough in a real defense situation. 0 -

First of all, in my experience/opinion 9mm luger is still a lot more readily available than .380, even if say, its not quite as readily available as two years ago. 9mm luger has always been cheaper than .380, but now with the scarcity of .380 the price difference is greater than usual.
There is a big difference in power between 9mm luger and .380, but also important there is also a significant difference in gun SIZE.
.380 is designed for smaller lighter "pocket" pistols. While there are a few 9mm luger guns that are pretty small (eg the Kel-Tec PF1, Kahr, Rohrbaugh, Walther PPS, etc), none of them are quite as small and light as the smallest .380 guns.
The way you should make the decision, I think is to decide what the gun is for. If you want to carry the gun concealed in a pocket a .380 gun may be a better choice. If you want a full-sized gun for use at the range, or defense, 9mm luger is likely the better choice.
Also, as mentioned, if you are considering a .380 gun, you might also want to look at a few guns in 9x18 makarov, which is a similar round to .380, only a bit more powerful, and at the moment (at least) cheaper.0 -
I'd Buy A CZ82 in 9x18mak, 13 round capacity, ammo & gun is cheap and accurate.. also I'd buy a couple extra mags for it.
If you buy and AK or Ar ammo prices are going to still be outragious given what the material to make it has dropped to..0 -
As you have noticed the 380 ammo is still holding it's price. 9mm has started to come down. IF you reload it will make a difference in practice ammo price. I load and carry a 380 24-7, and switch to a 9mm for serious carry. I don't feel unde gunned with the 380 with today's good HP ammo. 0 -

Along with the fact that the .380 in your pocket is 10000000x better then the 9mm left on the table/truck/safe/ect so it is not on you.0 -
Go with the 9mm and do not look back.
