s&w n frames
I love the look of the model 27 3 1/2 in nickel what is a good one worth. Not so much for collecting but for shooting oogling and showing off to your buddies? Also how about a pristine nickel 28-2 4"?

I'm sure Lefty or someone will be around to give you more info, but I can tell you what I know. Nickel 28s are RARE, and there are fakes out there.
That said, a real one is worth $1,300-$1,500, maybe more with box, papers and tools. I've got a few N frames, and enjoy them alot.

Austin20, A nickel 3 1/2" model 27 in "good" shape, 95%+, should be worth about $750 to $900. The short barrel guns are becoming more desirable. I have seen them get bid bids at auctions.
If you have a nickel model 28 "Highway Patrolman" its almost certainly a re-finished gun. There were only about 25 nickel guns made for the Florida Highway Patrol and they were 5 inchers.
I have model 27's with 3 1/2", 4", 5" & 6" barrels and 2 model 28's 4" & 6". The model 28 was a no-frills version of the model 27 made for police officers who did not need the high polished finish and checkering on the top strap.
I love the "N" frames. They are almost impossible to wear out. Oh yeh, Welcome to the forums.0
