    ok guys, without having to do alot of research. what is the difference in the ruger mk2 and mk3? if it aint broke, why fix it?

    They are essentially the same thing, but "damascus" is made of better raw material and with more time & care.

    From the 1902 Sears catalog......{loose quote}...
    Three types of barrels for shotguns, Laminated steel which is a single flat strip of metal welded around a mandrel.
    Then there is twist steel which is a single flat strip of steel that is twisted then formed around the mandrel.
    Lastly Damascus barrel which has two or three twisted strips of steel
    formed around the mandrel.
    Damascus was the most work intensive and was used on the better guns.
    All three types WERE available in "nitro-bored" for use with smokeless
    powders. DON"T USE MODERN SHELLS IN THESE GUNS. Bob
