CZ rifles?
How do they stack up against the others? Are they made in Czech/Slovak Republic?

I have only 5 or 6 of their rifles and 2 handguns, so I'm not sure. [;)]
Well made, all wood and blued steel for the rifles. Reputation for excellent accuracy. I have a few 452s (rimfire) a 527 in 223 and 4 550s including a 416 Rigby & a 9.3X62 Mauser. I used to be able to say they were the best value out there, I think they still could be but prices have gone up.
Typical Mauser action, a little rough. Good triggers, can be adjusted down or single set at a few ounces.0 -

Every one i've had was very accurate, and never gave me a bit of trouble. Carried a CZ85 in 9mm when i first went on patrol, and had the Kadet kit for it to convert it to 22lr. Also and excellent handgun, no problems since about 1992, and untold thousands of rounds through it in both calibers. 0 -

IMHO, rifles are superb shooters but were much too heavy for my needs, hence I dii the stock job to the 308W and I love it!!!
All my rifles were wicked shooters out-of-the-box...heck, it's a CZ ain't it[:D][:D][:D]

CZ offers very good value and quality. To my knowledge, the receivers on all models, including the 452/453 rimfires, and 527/550 centerfires, are forged. I believe that this is considered to be superior to casting, which you find in some rifles (such as Ruger) which are more expensive than the CZs in some cases.
I have a CZ 452 in .17 HMR, and have probably already put 5000 rounds through it in three years or so. It was quite accurate out of the box, and will shoot around 1 MOA at 100 yards. I spent some money having the trigger slicked up and the magazines honed, but have done nothing to the bedding or barrel channel yet, just because I do not wish to fix something that is not broken.
I have a shooting friend with the 550 Varmint in 22-250, laminated heavy stock, and it is very accurate, with a good trigger. I do not know exactly, but this rifle probably shoots .250 MOA or so with his handloads.
One minor quirk with CZs is that the safeties are forward for "safe", and back to "fire".
The actions, even the rimfires, are "controlled round feed" to my knowledge, and very high quality. They "snick and click" nicely, which is music to my ears. The stocks and bluing are good quality and nicely finished.
A left-handed 527 in either .223 or .204 is definitely on my wishlist. If CZ made the 550 in left-hand in calibers smaller than .375, that would be on my wishlist also.0 -
My circle of buddies bought .17 caliber rifles for squirrels and target. They bought $600-800 customs (Kimbers etc) and I bought a CZ for about a quarter that much. It looked as good and shot better than some for a fraction of their costs. They were envious of the value obtained for the price spent. Some sold and purchased the CZ. I'm an old pre-64 Winchester guy, but this rifle was a great value. 0 -

Modern CZ rifles stack up very well against any competition out there. They are the standard Mauser '98 action with a few minor changes. As noted the receivers are forged not cast, which is a good thing. I have noted with some that the fit is a little rough at first but not terrible. It wears in like any rifle gets smoother with use. I have a 550 and had a 527 and liked them both. I did a dumb thing when I sold the 527.
As for being made in the Czech Republic, most of the parts are made there but the rifles are assembled in the U.S. At least that was the way I read it the last time I looked at their website:
