VALUE REQUEST: 1911 COLT
Gentlemen,
Can much be told about a piece from only the brand, model and serial number?
The pistol in question is one I'm about to inherit, and I'm hoping to gather information, including possible market value. It is:
1911 Colt .45 Semi-auto pistol SN 1706737
Having not seen it yet (it's awaiting dispensation of the estate), I don't know if it's nickel plated, blued, or painted bright red, but someone who has seen it said it has pearl handles and, having known the late owner all my life, it's probably in excellent condition.
Once I've cleared the background checks, and taken possession, I will post pictures, but that won't be for a few weeks yet. If I'm jumping the gun (ha!) by asking the question before I have it in hand, please let me know, and I'll repost when I have images. I just got a litte fired up (ha!) when I got the letter from the lawyer with the serial number, and thought I'd run it up the flagpole today, to see what anybody had to say.

If the SN is correct? Your pistol is a 1911 A1 made during W W II by Colt. Needless to say it didn't leave Colt with "pearl handles". Nothing else can be ascertained until we see quality photos of it. 0 -
